Nordic Line Inc. dba Design NS is a four generation Leather Furniture manufacturer that originated in Finland. It was founded in Scandinavia in Old Europe. Aki Makela, his son Kai, V.P. and daughter Katja relocated its operation to Boca Raton, Florida and opened a custom-built 40,000 sq. ft. Interior Design Showroom and Factory in 1989.

In 2007, the Flagship store began an expansion, which is scheduled to be complete by May 2008. The Interior Design Showroom and Factory, which sells only “TO THE TRADE will be 65,000 sq. ft..

In February of 2007, Design NS opened its second location, which houses 30,000 sq. ft. in the DFW metro-plex in Texas just 30 min. north of downtown Dallas in Carrollton.

Our Leathers are from Scandinavia and the finest in the world due to “free grazing.” Our Artisans are masters at precision and finite detailing. Having created our own methodology of design in conjunction with our state-of the art computerized technology are what sets us apart.

The core of our construction is Baltic Birch, which is grown only in Finland and northern parts of Russia, and due to the extreme cold it is slow growing and therefore the hardest wood in the world. We use a tenuous coil system along with a European technology that is stronger, quiet and will outlast 8-way hand tied furniture.

As with most leaders in any industry there are always those that are at the helm of innovation, as is with Nordic Line. We are the first company in the world to bring the Innovation of Power to Recliners. A concept which has opened up the world of comfort in sumptuous leather seating and introduced it to Home Theatre Media Design taking it to another level.

CUSTOMIZATION is our forte! Whether it be additional seat depth, a change of legs, a horizontal wood base, or all the measurements changed, this is easily accomplished as it is Nordic Lines primary interest to provide the end user with personalized furniture.

For decades we have integrated the simplistic philosophy of minimalist lines, the spirit of nature, and the suppleness of leather to create a taut, sinuous structure. It’s fluid form perpetuates a vision of foresight for todays lifestyle into a striking leather collection.
